At the very least, the prospective Pupil must possess the following:-
(i) a good command of the provisions of the laws of Malaysia. For example, the prospective Pupil ought to be able to easily converse and consider concepts and current and hot-spot issues especially in relation to the Federal Constitution, the Legal Profession Act and accompanying rules and rulings, Civil & Criminal procedural rules, the Evidence Act;
(ii) language (English and Malay) must be graded at 90% or higher or such equivalent by MUET or TOEFL standards;
(iii) adequate research skills (further training will be provided during the pupillage period) with a familiarity with Boolean type searches for research carried out online;
(iv) computing skills with adequate and functional knowledge of short cuts and efficient use of Microsoft Office suite software, in particular Word (necessary) and Excel (working knowledge sufficient);
(v) a good work ethic with keen, analytical and curious mind; and
(vi) passion to carry on the best traditions of the Bar, including the observance and furtherance of the objects of Section 42 of the Legal Profession Act.
Doubters need not apply. Only serious applicants with a view towards a career in dispute resolution considered. |
